The first Boishakhi Mela was organised in 1993 at the premises of Burwood Girls High School. It was the year 1400 in Bengali calendar. This venue hosted the festival for the following 13 years while it grew exponentially.

The very first year the event attracted only around 200 people. First few years the stalls were nothing but some open small tables and chairs where food and other stuffs were displayed. Cultural performances used to be in open air under trees. Realising of its increasing popularity and visitor attendance, the organisers added 10 fete stalls, banners and festunes in 1998 to give it a colourful, festive look to the event. And variety in cultural programs was included. In 2004 and 2005 the School ground became too small for the event and our search began for a bigger and better venue.
