Bangabandhu Council Australia is a leading, prestigious, popular and dynamic community organisation in Australia that was founded in 1989 as the Bangabandhu Parishad Australia. To make it fully understandable in English the name was changed a little in 2009 replacing “Parishad” with its synonym as “Council”.
This organisation is named after Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation of Bangladesh who was popularly known as Bangabandhu, means Friend of Bengal. Being a secular, non political and unique with its vision, mission and the objectives the council represents the interests of Bengali speaking Australians and is active in not only promoting social and cultural life of the Bengali community but also committed to contribute in multicultural Australia.
The council is the initiator, promoter, organiser and presenter of the Boishakhi Mela – Bengali New Year celebration.
